We are what we eat…
Every cell in our body was created from the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe. Muscle cells commonly known as myocytes are the cells that make up muscle tissue. The whole body including our Pelvic Floors are made from cells, tissue, muscle, ligaments, tendons and connective tissue that is fundamental to any movement we make.
In addition to nourishing our bodies, food also affects the quality of our lives, our appearance, mood, weight, energy, the ageing process and over overall health and well-being, including Women’s Health and the maintenance of our pelvic floor.
There are 45 muscles that attach somewhere on the pelvis with various functions ranging from stability, power and assistance with posture and breathing. To support, the better function of the Pelvic Floor and muscular structure it’s therefore important that we assist through nourishment and feed this structure well.
So what we eat may be reframed as our muscles are only as strong as the nutrients we feed them. In order for a muscle to be strong, robust and react to the demands placed on them, it is essential we eat well and continue to educate, discuss the pro’s of good nutrition, specifically for improving our Pelvic Floor health.
